NDEC Affordable Devices Program

The National Digital Equity Center has an Affordable Devices Program that provides free devices to Maine Residents 18 years of age and older who are of low to moderate income. Please contact your local school district for tablets/computers for school-aged children.

Please complete the form below to apply to this program for yourself or someone you know who needs access to an affordable device.  If you are applying for someone else, the person needing the device is the “applicant”.

Those who do not have high-speed internet access, may be eligible for an Android data tablet free for 12 months.  Click here to see the Tablet End User Agreement.  Those who do have high speed internet, may be eligible for a laptop computer (click here) or a desktop computer (click here).

NDEC Affordable Devices Program Application

Please complete the form below if you or someone you know may be eligible for the NDEC Affordable Devices Program. Note: Device recipient must be a Maine resident 18 years of age or older .

  • If applicant does not yet have an email address, NDEC will provide free tutoring to help them create and learn how to use one.
    Android data tablets are available for those who do not have high speed internet in their home; refurbished Windows 10 laptops and desktop computers are available for those with high speed internet access available.
    If this is the applicant's first tablet or computer, we will provide free assistance to help the individual understand how to use the device to participate in our classes to improve their skills.
    If no, please do not continue with this application. Individuals with strong digital literacy skills are encouraged to apply for our Volunteer Tutoring program as NDEC provides free devices for our tutors as well. For more information, please go to https://digitalequitycenter.org/join-us/.
